Rain
by Robert Louis Stevenson
The rain is falling all around,
It falls on field and tree,
It rains on the umbrellas here,
And on the ships at sea.
Yes, you've guessed it - it's another wet day here. What to do when the skies are crying? Don't you start. You look up and smile and say I have a remedy for those rainy blues. I have four super books to turn that frown into a big happy face. :)
1) Where does the Butterfly Go When It Rains? By May Garelick and Wilton Micholas
2) Come On, Rain! by Karen Hesse Beautifully illustrated and full of hope and anticipation of that rain experience.
3) Rain by Manya Stojic who is both the author and the illustrator. This book is for emergent readers and perfect for PS/K. Very useful in the classroom to teach about African animals, the five senses and how the Earth needs rain for our vegetation and our food .
4)Rain School by James Rumford. Loved this account of an African school where there are no boundaries....literally. A joy to read.
Stay indoors, stay warm and read on. Spring is here but where is it?
