If you don't know about him you should

I am talking about the famous illustrator/author Eric Carle of course. He is an extraordinary man, born in Syacruse N.Y. in 1929 then moved to Germany with his parents and educated there. He always loved the US and wanted to move back there to live. His best known work is "The Very Hungry Caterpillar", truly a children"s classic book. It has been translated into 45 languages and has sold over 30 million copies. It was published in 1969 and is still a sought after kid's book even today. Mr. Carle's art is collage technique using hand-painted papers which he cuts and layers. His illustrations are big, bright and very happy. His work is very recognizable once you are introduced to it. He adds dimensions like lights and sounds which make his storybooks even more appealing to kids (and adults). He attempted with great success to bridge the gap between children and their home and school experience. He is a nature lover and this is aptly expressed in all his books. He even has his own Museum. How cool is that? You can check him out at www.carlemuseum.org and his official website is www.eric-carle.com. His other books that are amazing are:

The Lonely Firefly (with lights)

Very Busy Spider

The Tiny Seed

The Very Quiet Cricket (with sounds)

Very Clumsy Click Beetle

Grouchy Ladybug

He has a list of other award winning books but I have chosen ones that fit into our garden theme at this time.

Read on my friends.
