Count down to a brand new year.....2012!

Don Freeman was (and still in) a great author of children's books. He was born in 1908 and passed in 1978. I remember having one of his books, "Corduroy" in my library when I first started out teaching. My mom made a pair of overalls for him and he sat in a little rocking chair in the corner of the library holding on to his little book inviting the kids to come on over and take a peek. The kids loved the book (and him) and modern kids will still adore his stories. Don Freeman has written many, many outstanding children's books. The relevant one for this time of year is, "Happy New Year, Corduroy." It is a sturdy board book which little hands can easily handle and appreciate. The book explores the theme of celebrating the in-coming new year with hats, party horns, hot chocolate, games, and the big countdown to the midnight hour. All of the special night's traditions are explored and visually and verbally presented to your child. It is a little book that can be enjoyed over and over again.

Other books by Don Freeman are:

1. Norman the Doorman

2. Dandelion

3. Fly High, Fly Low

4. A Pocket for Corduroy

5. Corduroy

6. Corduroy Lost and Found

7. A Rainbow of My Own

8. Corduroy and Company

9. Corduroy's Merry Christmas

Corduroy is a beloved character that has been appreciated for over forty years and counting down to the present.

Read on.
