Reach out and touch somebody's hand.....great song....great message

It truly is better to give than to receive. In our world of materialism we get entangled in the "I want", "I want", "I want" syndrome. What a beautiful lesson to teach your child that mercy, compassion and giving is not only good for his/her soul but can make a huge difference in someone else's life at this or any other time of year. Teach your children to reach out, reach into their piggy banks and donate coins, toys, clothing etc. to those less fortunate than themselves. The Salvation Army, local churches, various noteable charities - you name it- it is not hard to find some worthy place to invest not only some of your money but your precious time to help out. Model to your children that they can indeed make a difference in someone's life this Christmas. Read stories to your child like "The Little Drummer Boy" and "The Carpenter's Gift". Teach your child to take the emphasis off "me" this Christmas and put it on "we."
