Jack Prelutsky-the rhyming man himself

Quote of the day.....

"Poetry is a great deal of joy and pain and wonder, with a dash of dictionary."
                                                          -Khalil Gibran

BornSeptember 8, 1940 (age 72), Brooklyn
NominationsDorothy Canfield Fisher Children's Book Award

Jack Prelutsky has paired up with illustrator Carin Berger's excellent collages and released his latest book of kid's poetry entitled "Sardines Swim High Across the Sky and other Poems." He is noted for his zany and wacky style of poetry. His style of wit and humour surpasses those of Shel Silverstein.  He was appointed as the first National Children's Poet Laureate, a very high honour indeed.  He is in high demand as a speaker and presenter of  his poetry and  kids  ( adults too) just adore him.

Carin is a New York Times Best Illustrated artist and she outdoes herself with her contributions of shadow boxes, dioramas and cut paper collages that make Prelutsky's book come alive even more.  The book is recommended for kids ages 4-8.  It is inventive, super creative and the wordplay will tickle the funny bone.  He has filled more than 50 books of verse and two that are truly noteworthy are:  "Scraminals" and "The New Kid on the Block."
