Praise for the tunes...

"Alphabet Rockers keep the culture of hip hop alive and instill in our children an appreciation for the rhythm, poetry, positivity, and movement that make up one of the most
appreciated art forms on the globe." - At Home Dad Matters.

"More kids need to know about Alphabet rockers.  These videos should be running as drop-ins on every public TV channel daytime block." - Kathy O'Connell WXPX Kids Corner Radio, Philadelphia

Just saying...

Oakland's kid-friendly hip hop artists Alphabet Rockers want you to come and play in "THE PLAYGROUND ZONE".  This talented duo deliver a set of six original new songs aiming to change the way kids relate to one another and themselves.  The music is designed to get kids up and dancing and participating in the fun.

"THE PLAYGROUND ZONE" covers topics of skin colour, neuro-diversity, community, and envisioning the impact each of us has in shaping our world.

The EP was produced by Brad Dollar and was recorded at Zoo Labs. Dollar was thrilled by the experience of working on the recording, saying,

"It feels so good to be making music that means something and has a high potential to transfer knowledge and happiness to listeners."

Founder of Zoo Labs, Ninth Watson, says,

"We push artists to take risks.  Alphabet rockers took that concept to the moon.  They broke through all sorts of taboo topics, and I hope both children and adults see and feel how special and powerful these songs are for our communities..."

"THE PLAYGROUND ZONE" is also a theatrical concert. Alphabet Rockers have performed these songs at more than 30 public and school shows, reaching more than 7,000 children.  In the classroom settings, students learned dance routines, explored skin colour and wrote their own songs, celebrating who they are.

Meet the Alphabet Rockers...

Songwriters/vocalists Kaitlin McGaw and Tommy Shepherd form the core of the band, with various guests adding to the musical fun at their public concerts.  They build audience daily through hip-hop dance, pop grooves, beatboxing and interactive experiences.  They are described by presenters and the press as: smart, imaginative, engaging, and fresh and contemporary.  They have been called a "Modern-Day De La Soul for the 21st century.  As Harvard-educated songster McGaw notes:

"We aim to create a musical world for kids where imagination is king and queen.  Everyone belongs and culture is celebrated. Music is magic, dancing is our language, and hip hop thrives as we encourage people to connect with themselves and one another through our music and performances."

"THE PLAYGROUND ZONE" Songs...

1. Players' Life - Playground rules where everyone is invited to play.

2. That's Your Name, Wear It Out - A song tool to celebrate unique names, intended to provide practice to speaking a name with its correct pronunciation.

3. Wiggle Jiggle - Simply sparks movement and dancing.

4. Oddball - Celebrates all the "brains of the world".

5. Gimme Some Skin - Celebrates skin colour diversity, and collaboration.

6. Change the World - Invites the audience to look within and envision how each of us changes the world with every action we take. Asks listeners to think about what they can do to make the world a more just and peaceful place.

I loved the music, the whole concept and feel it is a winner indeed.   Highly recommend by Storywraps... aka... me!
