“An amusing story; with its repetitive text sure to appeal to kids, and its double-page spreads filled with lively mixed-media pictures that grow increasingly crowded, readers will fall for it—hook, line, and sinker.”
Awesome illustration for you to enjoy
About the book
Roger needs a break from his busy life. He decides to pedal off and go fishing for the day. He scoops up Emily his next door neighbour and places her on the back of his bike. He puts her in charge of holding his coveted fishing pole. He then plunks Bob, his dog, in the front basket of his bike and they are off to the lake.
"Bumble-de-bump! Bumble-de-bump!
Roger riding, Bob in the basket,
Emily in back."
Along the way Emily catches many tokens off of the crowded city sidewalks without even casting the rod. She snags parcels, a skateboard, three sheep and one cow, just to cite a few!! Wow... she's very good!! With each item she hooks she yells...
"Roger, Roger, I've got a bite...
"No, you can't fish here...
Wait until we're at the lake!"
The angry, disgruntled crowd, all victims of a grab-and-pedal-off thief, start to chase after the three determined to get what's been pilfered from them back.
Everyone ends up at the lake, then in the lake, which cools tempers off and mellows the emotions. A huge sense of relief is released and the appeased crowd start enjoying themselves. They all end up that evening around a blazing camp fire happily singing kumbaya and enjoying each other's company.

The fun delightful illustrations bring the words to life and the message of the book is positive and up-beat. I know kids will tackle it with glee.
