"There's just NO ROOM. Not even for one pint-sized pup."

Mia wants a puppy more than anything, but her mom insists that they don't have room.  So Mia and her grandma invite some furry and feathered friends for a visit -- Grandma's parrot, Mia's class bunny, a neighbor's cat, even the book club's pet pig.

The apartment is overrun!  But will the yowling, squawking, snorting, snuffling chaos convince Mia's mom that there really is room for a pup?

This hilarious twist on the classic Yiddish folktale is a valuable reminder that there is always room for one more.

Unwrapping the Story

Everyone loves a puppy but when Mia asks her mom over and over again if she can have one the answer is always the same..."There's just NO ROOM. Not even for one pint-sized pup."  Their apartment is small and mom has put her foot down and said no.

Every morning before school Mia goes down the hall to her grandma's apartment for breakfast.  One day Mia spies a sign in the elevator announcing:  "Puppies to good homes!" Apartment 202."

She convinces Grandma to take her to have a peek at the new litter and Grandma says yes.  After school they go and visit but with caution... it's only a visit and no more says Grandma.  Yea right!  Mia loves all the puppies and especially the one that crawls right up on her lap.  She's a gonner. The little guy steals her heart immediately.  How can she convince her mom to let her have that sweet little guy for her very own?

Together Mia and her Grandma conjure up the perfect plan to actually make her dream become a reality.

The colour pallet is soft, beautiful and full of action. They bring the characters and the text to life right in front of your eyes.  They are exceptional.  The book is full of fast-paced chaotic mayhem and humour.  It is a delightful read for kids yearning for a pet of their very own.   I highly recommend this book.  It delivers on every level.
