Unwrapping Some Illustrations for You

 The Book

This is an imaginative tale with beautiful illustrations.  A young girl is bored and stuck inside her house on a gray and rainy day.  She confesses her feeling to a tiny little bird that is perched on her windowsill and asks if he might transport her above the clouds to discover if the sun is shining up there.  He magically swoops in and off they go.

During their flight the girl asks many questions as her inquiring mind kicks into gear.  She asks: Do clouds have memories?  Can they remember the dinosaurs? What are the cloud's names? Are there clouds are on other planets?... just to name a few. The two encounter a thunderstorm and the bird navigates his chatty passenger safely through it and heads back towards home.  On their arrival the girl is thankful that they land safely and exclaims, "Aren't clouds WONDEROUS?"

The illustrations depict a luminous journey into the sky for daydreamers and cloud enthusiasts of all ages.  Elly MacKay is a renowned paper-diorama artist and her illustrations are a joy to behold.  The author has included information at the back of the book where kids can learn more scientific facts about clouds for those who want to go deeper.  I love the book and highly recommend it.
