The Book



This is an important book that introduces kids to the concept of having self-confidence.  The text is simple and the illustrations are outstanding. They greatly enrich the narrative. 


The author cites many methods to boost and conquer that feeling of apprehension and nervousness about trying new things.  Kids can easily relate to the author's suggestions and they will discover that with practice they can feel more confident enabling them to engage more in the world around them. 


"Mommy What is Confidence?"  will spark conversations causing a child's self-esteem to grow and to blossom. It includes a Confident Cup that kids can strive for as they progress and begin to belief in themselves and in their abilities

Meet the Author







Shal Chirkut has been writing for many years with a keen interest in covering topics that can positively impact the lives of readers.  He believes confidence can be developed through challenging oneself.  He has skydived, mentored students, proposed to his wife on the Eiffel Tower, and climbed high mountains in Iceland.  He is also an avid tennis player and has shared a laugh with tennis legend Roger Federer. He has an Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto and lives with his wife and children in Toronto, Canada.


His inspiring family is a great source of strength and drive for hm.





About the Illustrator







Brianna studied Communication Arts &Visual Technology at George Mason University. She graduated early and immediately started writing, illustrating, and publishing books. She received a positive review from Kirkus Reviews for her first children’s book, The Lion. She is proud to be a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She currently works with Brandylane Publishing as well as Indigo River Publishing.

Her favorite illustrated children's books growing up were Stellaluna and Blueberries For Sal.
