The Book

This is a delightful book starring two adorable siblings named Luke and Lottie that are learning Gardening 101 from their daddy.  Together as a family they prepare the soil by raking the dirt, plant tiny seeds and saplings that they purchased from the local nursery and then the hardest part of all... wait for the harvest.  Oh my it takes vegetables a long, long time to grow and they discover that you need a lot of patience.

This book is a wonderful guide that unveils to kids the proper way to plant and maintain a successful garden.  The language used is age-appropriate and the illustrations are very kid-friendly and they marry with the text perfectly.

Spring is just around the corner so now would be the ideal time to share  "Luke and Lottie and Their Vegetable Garden"  with the aspiring little gardener in your family.

This is an educational and fun book about vegetable gardening for ages 3+ and I highly recommend it. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Meet the Author

Who would have thought Ruth Wielockx was going to be a writer and illustrator of children’s books? She herself least of all! She studied Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Leuven and Southampton. She also got a degree in teaching and worked as a teacher for a while.

When she spent a year in the United States in 2000, because of the work of her husband, she started to look for something to occupy herself. She took a course in aquarelle at the local arts academy. Ruth found out she really liked drawing and painting. This discovery in combination with the fact that she had always loved books, made her start to think about her own children’s book. Still years of doubt followed, but when you see the number of books she has made and the reputation she has won, it is unbelievable she would have been doing something else than writing and illustrating children’s books.
