Editorial Reviews

Review

"...My Very Punny Dad, is full of laughs and, yes, you guessed it, lots of very clever puns. The illustrations are just as clever... This is definitely a fun read, but the best part of the story is the family bond, the love readers will instantly feel that exists between the members of this very punny family."  - Readers' Favorite

The Book

If you want a book full of playful witty language look no further because  "My Very Punny Dad" is the perfect pick!  Whether sharing one-on-one or as a read aloud to a group this book is a winner. It flows in perfect rhyme from cover to cover.

A little girl rolls her eyes and grits her teeth as she experiences dad-joke after dad-joke and his corny puns all through her day. She wants to cover up her ears and block out those sillies but they just keep on coming.

This delightful book is filled full of humour that kids will love!  The heartwarming illustrations are expressive and very kid-friendly.  "My Very Punny Dad" accentuates how our language can be an extremely fun playmate to interact with!  I love the family bonding that is exhibited throughout the story.  The surprise twist at the end will encourage kids to start 'punning' on their own.  I love the book and highly recommend it.

P.S. When does a joke become a "dad joke?" When it becomes apparent.  Play on.......

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Meet the Author

Ryan Milligan resides in the Chicago suburbs with his wife and two daughters. The author of "My Very Punny Dad," Ryan doesn't hide his affinity for "dad jokes". His love of puns and word play began at a young age when he read "Amelia Bedelia" and became fascinated with how language can be used in creative and silly ways. When he's not reading books and having fun with his family, Ryan is an information technology professional specializing in software engineering and data analysis. He's also a connoisseur of hot sauce and wildly inconsistent with his mid-irons on the golf course, though he always wears two pairs of pants in case he ever gets a hole-in-one.

About the Illustrator
