Apres March Break

When it's school break not all kids are lucky enough to board a plane/train/vehicle and take off to another destination. Sometimes they have to stay around home, hang out and be content. I came across this fabulous little book entitled: "Isabella: Girl on the Go" by Jennifer Fosberry and Mike Litwin. It's for kids with lots of imagination that visit places, see awesome things and have a vacation right in their own back yard.

Coreena's review states: Isabella: Girl on the Go (Hardcover)

"I read this book with my kids and they really enjoyed it, both the cute story and the wonderful illustrations.

I love Isabella's imagination and how she travels the world in her own back yard, for instance her fence become the Great Wall of China, and her sandbox the desert and pyramids in Egypt. At the end of the book, there is an information section where each of these places is described, and there are and web sites to look up. This is a great connection to have.

There is a nice structure to the book, the kind that kids love, where Isabella is in one place, her dad starts to play along, then she goes to another place. The story gets that predictable, unpredictable feel, where it is predictable that she will fool her father, but unpredictable where she will go next.

The illustrations are engaging, simple and colourful, the kind that really draw young readers in, transforming Isabella's back yard into the landmark places around the world."

This is a fun book that kids are sure to want to read over and over again - and it might even get them interested in explorations of their own.

I (Marilyn) recommend this book highly, It will spark lots of conversations and enhance your child's knowledge of foreign places. Read on.
